    Prince Henry of Portugal funded and encouraged his people to explore the seas and the land. He wanted Europe to establish power over many different parts of the world which included India, Africa, Asia, etc. This was an important start to globalization.

    When Dias reached South Africa, this proved they could travel to India because they had not known if the African continent even ended. This helped push new explorations and trade eastward.

    When Columbus and his men arrived in the New World, they originally thought they were in Asia. This started the trade triangle.

    Gama successfully reached India around the Cape of Good Hope. This opened up a way to trade with india without having to deal with the ottomans.

    Cabot encounters ice and explores southward looking for a westward passage. Though he fails, his voyages very important for knowing not try to go north.

    Being influenced by Mansa Musa's wealth and power, the Portuguese started to make their way deeper into Africa, the deepest they have been, and they started to become wealthy in various markets like slavery. Others would follow suit and this would make slavery a common market for globalization.

    This map though some information was true and some was false, was made from the voyages so far. This would help those exploring and also make additions to the map.

    Ferdinand Magellan's Voyage

    Proved it was not easy to get through the Americas, and that Cathay wasn't nearby. He spent years exploring and finally made it to the Atlantic, only to be killed in the Philippines. His crew proved it could be done.

    Proof At Last

    Magellan's crew found a way through and showed that Columbus had discovered a new world and not a route to Asia. These areas were separated by vast oceans. It was now up to the explorers to decide if the northern or the southern passage were the way to go.
