Father died
She had never felt close to her father until he died, then she realized they had a lot in common. -
Got a job
She spent a year teaching, then she was offered a permanent position in St.Boniface. Her mother was really happy that she got a job in her home town. She was the only one who got a job during the depression of her father's death. -
Mother died
Her mother died two years before her novel was published. She was deeply depressed after her mother died and wished she hadn't stayed away from her. -
Book Published
"Bonheur d'occasion" was published in 1945 and became a sucsess. In the next 2 years, much would change for Gabrielle. -

She won the Prix F'emina frain
