  • Rhineland

    Rhineland
    Hitler sent more than 20,000 troops back into the Rhineland, the area that was supposed to stay demilitarized according to The Treaty of Versailles. The area named the Rhineland was a strip of German land that borders France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
  • Poland

    Poland
    The Invasion of Poland is also known as the September campaign, 1939 defensive war, and Poland campaign. This was an attack on the Second Polish Republic by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union which marked the beginning of World War II. Poland surrendered after holding up a good fight for 35 days.
  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    The Battle of Britain was an air-based battle entirely fought between Britain's Royal Air Force and Germany's Luftwaffe. Germany hoped for a quick victory but the RAF put up an amazing fight and stood their ground resulting in their victory.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa was the code name for the invasion of the Soviet Union by Nazi Germany and some of its Axis allies. The operation put into action Nazi Germany's ideological goal of conquering the western Soviet Union so they could repopulate it with Germans.

    The Allied invasion of French North Africa in November 1942 was intended to draw Axis forces away from the Eastern Front. Relieving pressure on the Soviet Union. The operation was a compromise between U.S. and British planners who felt that the American-advocated landing in northern Europe was too early and would lead to disaster at this stage of the war.
  • Battle of Bulge

    Battle of Bulge
    Hitler made plans to burst through the allied lines. He launched this plan on December 16 and surprised the Americans creating a bulge in the American lines. Therefore making the name Battle of the Bulge. Quick allied air support forced the Germans to withdraw by mid-January.
  • Battle of Berlin

    Battle of Berlin
    After the Battle of the Bulge that battle concluded the German offensive on the Western front by April 1945 the Red Army had fought it through Poland and into Germany to the outskirts of Berlin. On April 30th with advancing Soviet soldiers just half a mile from his bunker, Hitler killed himself after that German leaders started to surrender quickly. May 7th officially concluded the end of WWII.
