    Heat and Rook talks to the detective who worked her mom's case, Carter Damon. He takes them through the case, step by step. Nikki blames him for not putting enough work into finding the killer and things get soon heated when she accuses him of giving up on an unsolved case.
  • Friday: First Murder

    Friday: First Murder
    Det. Heat is called to a crime scene. A body was found stocked in a brief case inside a delivery truck. Victim: Female Jane Doe, no ID, no purse, no wallet, no jewellery, estimated age early sixties. TOD: Stab wound entering sideways between the ribs and strait into her heart. Heat examines the suitcase that the victim was found in. She fainted briefly after finding her initials into the bottom of the suitcase.

    Boston

    In an effort to investigate the 10- year-old murder and learn more about her mom, Heat and Rook takes a short trip to Boston to visit her mom's old school. While they're there they also run into Petar, Nikki's old boyfriend and have dinner with him. Rook who obviously dislikes the guy is clearly dissatisfied. When in Boston Heat and Rook learn that the victim's name is Nicole Bernardin and that she was a fellow musician and friend of her.
  • Crossing the street

    When Nikki and Rook attempts to cross the street a car appears out of nowhere and is only inches away from running them both down. Rook's driver shouts out for them to watch out bringing their attention to the car which was driving straight passed them and continuing up the street without any sign of hesitation.
  • Tabloid artikle

    Detective Heat is furious when Rook shows her an article in the local paper "The New York Ledger" about her case. Not only is the article in itself annoying but somehow the reporter has knowledge on the details of the case, and writing it down in the paper for the entire world to read.
  • Don's death

    Don's death
    For the past 6 years Nikki have been training combat with her training and sparring partner Don. We don't know a lot about Don, other than that fact that he's an ex-navy SEAL and that he and Nikki have developed a casual "friends with benefits" relationship over the years. After a workout session one evening, Don and Nikki is at her apartment having a drink when Don goes to answer the door only to be shot in the head with a large calibre bullet killing him instantly.
  • Meeting the dad

    Nikki and Rook visits her dad to bring him up to speed on the recent developments on her mother's murder investigation. Her relationship with her father is rather awkward and they don't talk much or see each other very often.
  • Shrink session

    Nikki is forced to take a mandatory session with the department shrik after starting a screaming match with her boss. She was furious with him for treating her father like a murder suspect. In the session she revealvs more than she had planed to about her mom's murder, Don's death and her relationship with her dad and Rook. It becomes clear to the doctor that she is dealing with a lot of trauma and so he puts her on a mandatory leav of absence for a whole week.
  • Fighting with the boss

    After Nikki finds out that Captain Irons sent Detective Sharon Hinesburg to talk to Nikki's father about the case, treating him like a suspect she is furious and storms into his office to express her disapproval of his actions. He thinks she is being unreasonable and hen the heat level raises as the argument continues he sends her to therapy to deal with her anger in a reasonable matter.
  • Leaving for Paris

    Leaving for Paris
    When Nikki is put on a mandatory leave of absence form work, she and Rook travels to Paris to talk with the victim’s parents and to learn more about the years Nikki's mother spend there.
  • Monsieur and Madame Bernardin

    Monsieur and Madame Bernardin
    On their first day in Paris Nikki and Rook meets Nicole Bernadin's parents. Lysette and Emile invited them into their home, they drank tea and talk about the time Nikki's mother was staying with them. Just before they left Lysette gave Nikki a keepsake box with lots of old pictures and postcards from when she and a group of friends was traveling around Europe.
  • Meeting Tyler Wynn

    After having spoken with Mr. and Mrs. Bernardin, Nikki and Rook visits an old friend of her mothers in the hospital, where he had been send after someone failed to kill him earlier that day. During their visit Mr. Wynn reveals that he is a federal agent and that Nikki's mother, along with a group of her friends was all working for the CIA. Unfortunately, Mr. Wynn dies in the hospital later that day leaving Nikki and Rook with a lot of unanswered questions.
  • Kidnapping

    On their last evening in Paris, Nikki and Rook were ambushed in a park, knocked unconscious and put inside the trunk of a car. Fortunately, Rook’s old friend and former spy Anatoly Kijé staged the ambushed. He told them some old rumors of Nikki's mother and Nicole becoming double agents. But before they could get more answers from Anatoly he fled off into the night, leaving them little information to work with.
  • Comeing Home

    Nikki and Rook landed at JFK in the evening and settled in the backseat of a town car that Rook had ordered for them. However, the driver didn't take them to his apartment but instead took them to see Bart Callan from the United States Department of Homeland Security. He ordered them to tell him who they spoke to and what they did overseas. Both Nikki and Rook refused to reveal anything and given that they were being detained in an unofficial setting the agent let them leave.
  • Reinstatement

    When a man is arrested for the murders of Nicole Bernardin and Cynthia Heat Nikki reaches out to a man named Zach Hammer to go over her boss’s head and get herself reinstated on the case. She interrogates the suspect but proofs him to be low-life fraud with a longing any kind recognition he can get.
  • It's gone!

    When Nikki and Rook returnes home to his appartment in the evning someone has stolen the box that was given to her by Madame Bernardinin, the box that contained pictures and postcard of her mother.
  • The Set up

    Previously Nikki have tried to reach out to Detective Carter Damon about the case. When he finally answered her he told her to meet him at a Café. She went there but he didn't show up, instead a red laser light appeared on her chest. Her coffee cup shattered in her hand and she duked for cover. Luckily for Nikki, an aftershock following an earthquake earlier that week appeared just as he shooter pulled the trigger sending the bullet on a circuitous path.
  • Carter Damon's death

    Ex-detective Carter Damon is found shot dead. Turns out he was the one who shot and killed Don at Nikki's apartment and when she presided the shooter she shot at him. According to the medical examiner he was shot in the shoulder, not fatal but obviously damaging. However cause of death is drowning.
  • The return of the box

    Trough Carter Damon's phone records the team of detectives find out that the he has been in contact with a woman named Salena Kaye, who just happed to be the same woman who have been helping Rook with his physical recovery for the past two weeks after his original therapist suddenly quit. The detectives are not able to find Salena, but they does find Nikki's stolen box of pictures in her apartment.
  • The drop box

    In search for a hidden drop box used by Nicole Bernardin in her days as a spy Nikki ends up alone on an old, abandoned subway station beneath the darkened streets of New York City. Just as Nikki found what she was searching for the supposedly deceased Tyler Wynn and her ex-boyfriend Petar Matic appears on the platform, pointing their guns at her. Mr. Wynn leaves with the content of the drop box while Petar stays behind to make sure she does not make it out of there alive.
  • The final take-down

    Petar has been instructed to kill Nikki, but when she grabs for his gun things take a dangerous turn. Even more so given that a speeding train passes the platform every five minute, making it difficult to escape. Nikki manages to strip Petar of his gun and drag him down into the railroad. They fought, Nikki got the upper hand and managed to pull a gun on him, which resulted in an abrupt end to the fight.
  • Petar's death

    After hours of interrogation Petar is brought to a holding cell in the precinct, later that night Nikki finds him dead in his cell. Someone had poisoned him; Much as Nikki had liked to see him dead she still had lots of questions she would never get answers to.
  • Another Shrink Session

    Nikki talks to her shrink about her issues and whether or not she is ready to deal with them.
  • Playing piano

    As an attempt to feel close to her mother as well as trying to facing things from her past, Nikki sits down in front of the piano in her living room and begin to play it like she did when she was a child. As she plays a piece by Mozart she discovers a change in the notes; pencil marks of some sort written in her mother's handwriting.
