Bad Weather and Food Shortage
In July 1788 the worst harvest in forty years had destroyed crops, causing food shortages. This caused rioting because of the enormous increase on the price of bread. There were many deaths of the starving and nobles who were rioted upon. -
Louis XVI Calls on the Estates-General
King Louis calls on the Estates-General after 173 years. He does this because he wanted the nobles to pay more taxes. This leads to the Third Estate not being represented and making the Tennis Court Oath and National Assembly. -
The Tennis Court Oath
This was started after the Third estate was locked out the Estates-General. This caused the Third Estate to revolt and create the Tennis Court Oath. They swore they would not disband until the government got better. -
The Bastille Raid
King Louis hires mercenaries to keep peace in France. The people don't like that and riot. They raid the bastille, destroy it brick by brick, then kill the mercenaries and put their heads on pikes. This showed the King the people were not afraid.. -
The Declaration of the Rights of Man is Written
King Louis is forced to sign the Declaration of the Rights of Man. This Document declares more freedom among the men of the Third Estate. -
The Versailles Raid
After the Bastille the people are angry and march to Versailles. The Fish Market Women march with large knives to kill the King. They break in and capture Marie and Louis and bring them back to Paris. -
The Guillotine
The King and Robespierre enforce and create the guillotine. This machine was made to be a humane execution. The National Razor killed hundreds of thousands of "Traitors". -
Marie and Louis' Failed Escape
In the middle of the night Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI attempt to escape France and leave to Austria. Only a few miles from Austria, they take a break and get caught. This angered the people, as the King said he would stay in France to learn the people's hardships, this was seen as betrayal. -
The King is Dead
King Louis XVI is arrested after a failed escape attempt. He is ironically Guillotined. He tries to make a speech but the crown and drums drown him out. This causes Robespierre to rise to power. -
Jean-Paul is Assassinated
Marat is assassinated in his bathtub by Charlotte Corday. She gave him a list of traitors and proceeded to stab him. He was then regareded as a Martyr and his bathtub was hung in churches to worship. -

Reign of Terror
Hundreds of Thousands were arrested and Guillotined. This was at the request of Robespierre. His execution ended this Period. -
Marie's Trial
Marie is captured and put on trial. The Judges tried her for Treason and Incest. She objects and nearby women are disgusted and realize they have gone too far. This does not stop her execution though. -
Danton Is Executed
George Danton, Robespierre's best friend, is executed by order from Robespierre himself. This brought to attention that Robespierre might be unfit to create and rule a new goverment. -
Robespierre's Execution
Robespierre tries to kill himself along with his colleagues. He fails and is left with his jaw practically falling off. He is arrested and swiftly executed for him wanting to give up more traitors. -
Napoleon's Rise to Power

The Hundred Days
Napoleon escaped his exiled island of Elba. He went back to Paris got power, leading 1,500 men, and made changes to the goverment. Multiple countries took him down in the bloody Battle of Waterloo.
