The meeting took place in Versailles to discuss a new tax plan. The clergy, the nobles, and the common people gathered together to discuss. Louis XVI called the meeting together to propose some solutions to his governments financial problems.

Thirty members come together to draft a constitution.
Many speeches take place at the Palais-Royal. The National Assembly puts together thirty members to draft the constitution. A new constitution is the National Assembly's primary task. -
The storming and fall of the Bastille.
This signaled the beginning of the French Revolution. The Bastille was the prison in Paris. The prison had seven prisoners at the time when it was attacked. -
Louis XVI and his family are arrested for trying to leave France.
The people of France no longer trusted Louis XVI. When Louis XVI was caught, he was no longer a constitutional monarch. And was completely dominated by the queen. -
France declares war on Austria.
The monarchy wanted war because they knew that the new government would be easily defeated by foreign powers. The French however fought poorly at first, however became more successful as the war continued. Louis was still at the top of the government at this time. -
Louis XVI sent to the guillotine.
Louis resisted the advice of constitutional monarchists. A narrow majority of people condemned Louis to death. He was executed by the guillotine in the "Place de la Revolution in Paris"... -
The Reign of Terror.
The Reign of Terror was an extreme period of violence. Sentenced 20,000-40,000 people to death. A conflict between two rival groups, the Jacobin's and the Girondin's. -
Robespierre is beheaded.
Robespierre, leader of the Reign of Terror was arrested by the National Convention. He encouraged over 17,000 people to death by the guillotine during the revolution. The day after his arrest, he was sent to the guillotine along with 21 of his followers. -
A new constitution is adopted.
Called the "Declaration of the Rights and Duties of Man and Citizen of 1795". This constitution affectedly ended the revolution. Napoleon Bonaparte came into charge. -
Napoleon overthrows the Directory, which ends the Revolution.
Napoleon rose in power threw out the French Revolution. After he seized power in France in 1799, he crowned himself emperor.
