Estates General
This system was created by Louis XVI to try to help France's economic crisis. The Estates General was very unfair and led to the French Revolution. -
Tennis Court Oath
The National Assembly wouldn't leave the room until they had written a constitution. The third estates also decided to call themselves the "National Assembly". -

French revolutionaries stormed Bastille to take weapons and free prisoners. This was a very important event because it led to the French Revolution. -

The women of France march to Versailles in request of bread. The women were marching because the people didn't have enough money for bread and there wasn't enough bread. -

The Guillotine was a device that would cut the head off of whoever is on the contraption. The machine was very quick so the French liked it. -
Flight to Varennes
Louis XVI and his wife escape to Austria , but they got caught on their way there. Then they were later guillotined. -
New Constitution
The new constitution was written after the fall of the absolute monarchy. About two thirds of males could vote and would have to vote for local officials directly. -
Reign of Terror
Maximilien de Robespierre was the dictator of France during this period of time. People were being executed because they were possibly with the enemy. -
Thermidor
This was the end of of the Reign of Terror and Robespierre was executed. Robespierre executed thousands of people throughout the Reign of Terror. -
Directory
This was a group of men that had the executive power. In the year 1795, the council had 500 delegates. -
Concordat
The agreement between Napoleon and the pope talking about the position of the Roman Catholic Church. Napoleon could now present bishops. -
Napoleonic Code
Napoleon created a new set of laws for France because the previous set of laws was not good. Napoleon's group of commissioners met many times to discuss the new laws. -
The Battle of Waterloo
The Battle of Waterloo was a defeat for the French military. The French were under Napoleon's rule and had conquered much of Europe. The Battle of Waterloo was the end of Napoleon's Reign.
