  • The Financial Crisis

    The Financial Crisis
    When Louis XVI became king, France was in debt. This was due to the American Revolution and the 7 years war. In order to fill the debt the King had decided to tax the first 2 estates. They did not like this so many riots. This helped start the French Revolution because the 3rd estate had to pay taxes and when they tried to vote for the 1st and 2nd estates to pay, they teamed up against the 3rd estate. This made the 3rd estate angry and caused them to demand better rights.
  • The meeting of the Estates General

    When France was put into debt, a meeting for the estates general was held. In this meeting, the 3rd estate hoped to express their problems. When they estates met, the King decided to vote as one body. This means the 2nd and 1st estate would team up and vote against the 3rd. The 3rd estate had gotten angry and complained to the King but he had failed to respond. From anger, the 3rd estate made a national assembly and invited all estates. They worked to create a constitution.
  • The Privileged Esates

    In france there were 3 estates. The 1st and 2nd estate where more privillaged than the 3rd. This was because the 3rd estate had to pay taxes when France was in debt. This made the 3rd estate angry. They were also angry because the 1st and 2nd esates would vote against the 3rd estate.
  • The Decelaration of the Rights of Men

    The Declaration of the Rights of Men was a document of the basic human writes and political power. It stated that all men were born equal and remain equal before the law. It also granted freedom of speech, of the press, and of religion. These writes did not include women so, they wrote their own document. It was called the Declaration of the rights of women and Citizens.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    The storming of the Bastille is basically France's 4th of the July. It marked a start for there revolution. The Bastille was attached by an angry mob. The people thought if they broke in the could find weapons. The mob ended up succeeding which gave people the belief they could win this revolution. It marked the start of the France Revolution.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    The Tennis Court Oath was another start of the revolution. Memebers of the Estatses General from the 3td estate started to call themselves the National Assembly. They planned to write a constitution. One day they where going to meet up and plan to write the constitution, but, there meeting hall was locked and guarded. The National Assembly decided to meet in a near by tennis court. They then made the oath to finish the constitution no matter where and what happenes.
  • The End of the Old Regime

    The National Assembly thought they could stop violence with reforms. They had already gotten rid of the tax for the church. They also removed the privileges from the 1st and 2nd Estate. They had finally gotten rid of feudalism in France.
  • Reforms in government

    In between 1789 and 1791 the National Assembley passed laws that corrected the past. They also setted up a new government that limted the kings power. This shows that the National Assembely was succeeding in the revolution.
