    The people of France were afraid that counterrevolutionary forces would undermine their revolution so they strictly executed anyone they suspected to be against the revolution. This was carried out by the committee of public safety, specifically Maximilien Robespierre.

    After Napoleon's defeat at the Battle of Waterloo, he needed to be sent somewhere he would no longer be a threat. Other European leaders wanted to get rid of him so he was sent to St.Helena.
