Varrazzano was the one to lead the first French expedition to America. Varrazzano explored the coast of North America between the Carolinas and Newfoundlands which includes New York harbor and Narragansett Bay. -

Gilbert Disappering
Gilbert began his first transatlantic sailing in 1583, claimed land in Newfoundland and because winter was approaching, decided to return home. On the way back to England, Gilbert’s ship vanished, and he was never seen again. -

French Mississippi Company
French Mississippi Company founded one of the most successful French colonies at the end of the mississippi river. The colony is called La Nouvelle Orleans.
