Conflict in the Ohio River Valley
The French and Native American troops seized a partially built fort of the British. It was located at the head of the Ohio River.They completed it themselves. They named it Fort Duquesne. -
War Begins
The French and their allies attacked Fort Necessity. Major George Washington surrendered and was allowed to march back to Virginia. The French and Indian War had begun.

Battle of Fort Oswego
General Montcalm and his French army captured and occupied the British's fort - Fort Oswego. They held 1700 prisoners and 120 cannons. It was the only British fort between a string of French forts on The Great Lakes.

Louisbourg and Fort Duquesne captured by the British
Large British and Native Americans forces overpowered the French at these two locations. The French abandoned both sites. They burned Fort Duquene and then sailed down the Ohio River to safety. -
Battle of Quebec
British General James Wolf sailed around Quebec for two months and waited for a break to capture it. Finally, an unguarded path allowed them on land. After a short, fierce battle, Quebec surrendered. This was a turning point of the war.

Treaty of Paris
The treaty allowed Britain to claim all of North America east of the Mississippi River. The French no longer had power in North America.
