    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war began over a dispute over the territory of the Ohio River. both the French and English wanted this land for trading purposes. The aftermath of the war left the English in debt.

    The Sugar Act was passed as legislature in order to bring in revenue for the English government after the French Indian War left them in debt. This Act taxed molasses and sugar products. After hearing news about this new legislature, the colonists reacted with protest.

    The Stamp Act was also passed as a form of revenue for the English government after being left in debt. This Act taxed the colonies on all printed materials such as newspapers, pamphlets etc. Colonists boycotted British goods as a reaction.

    The Declaratory Act stated that the English parliament could make laws regarding the colonies "in all cases whatsoever." After this, colonists turned violent towards British officials and British loyalists.

    This Act put a tax on many items such as glass, lead, paint, paper and tea. The colonists engaged in violent protests or riots against the control of the English government during this time.

    This Act gave the British East India Company exclusive control of shipments of tea directly to the colonies. This angered the colonists because they still had to pay taxes on the tea. In reaction to this, the colonists dumped tons of tea overboard when it arrived on ships.

    The Revolutionary war began due to colonists frustration with the English Parliament regarding the unfair taxation. It lasted until 1783 and resulted in the colonists gaining independence from England.
