    End of French and Indian War
    After war, the British raised taxes heavily and unfairly. The colonists were upset because they had literally no say about any of it.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act changed the tax on imports from the Caribbean, the tax change from 6 cents per gallon to 3 cents per gallon. The colonists were not happy, taxes were cut but more enforced.

    Stamp Act
    This act stated that all material that was printed needed to have a stamp, a stamp that wasn’t free. The colonies did NOT like this act and in fact all acted out together against this act. This act was eventually repealed.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    The declaratory act was put in place due to a repeal of the stamp act, this act was created for the British to show their power and authority over the colonies. The colonists did not like this act and did not find it fair that they were allowed to have this much control.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The Townshend act led to more taxes on goods that were being imported. Like the other acts, this act angered the colonists and led to boycotts.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    This Tea Act offered tax exemptions for tea from the British East India company, tons of cheap tea was dumped. The British later passed what colonists called the “Intolerable acts” and this pushed colonists to want to start war.
  • Revolutionary War

    The intolerable act made colonist so upset that they knew they had to do something about it. War between colonists and Britain broke out on April 19th and the first shot became known as the famous shot.
