    End Of French & Indian War
    The Treaty of Paris ended the long war with its terms of giving its territories to North America. It left Britain to neglect those American colonies and the British people to get upset with the government because they felt as though everything was unfair.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Parliament passed this act which encouraged North Americans to purchase sugar from British colonies to help provide money to pay off Britain's war debt. The North American people did not approve of this and started voicing their uninterest in protests.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    In another attempt to pay of their war debt, British Parliament forced it's people to pay a tax on paper uses such as stamps, newspapers and cards. The colonists refused to use the stamps as well as started riots.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    After seeing how upset the people were, British Parliament created this act to repeal the Stamp Act from its own people while still keeping in charge and in control of the North American people and its land. Many of the British people were split, some were happy about the Stamp Act being revoked while other realized that this foreshadowed another act that would soon be coming.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    To still gain money from the people, Parliament created the Townshend Act which was actually an overall topic that included different categories that would create new customs for people on everyday things such as glass, led, paint and paper which would cost people more money to ship. So rather then the people paying "taxes" they were paying money for customs. This left colonists furious and created many smugglers and many protests in which turned violent.

    In an attempt to help the British East India Tea Company from losing profit from all the smugglers that were sneaking in much cheaper teas, Parliament reduced the taxes on teas. This worried colonial merchants who were afraid of going out of business as well as angered colonists who did not want to pay the taxes in the first place.

    From all the anger North America felt against the British Parliament about all the taxes and overall the resentment, North America decided to go to war with Britain. The main reason for the fight being over control of the opposing colonies as well as the opposing opinions on taxes. Many Americans as well as colonists from Britain felt as though it was good something was being done but felt like a war was too much.
