The English referred to the confederacy as the Six Nations. -
Hostility
British fur traders built a fort in Pickawillany. Acting quickly the French attacked Pickawillany and drove the traders out of Ohio. -
Under Pressure
The Iroquois came under pressure as th British moved into the Ohio Valley. The confederacy gave trade rights to the British and reluctanly became their allies. -
George Wasington
Robert Dinwiddie of Virginia sent a surveyor named George Washington into Ohio country. -
First Command
Dinwiddle made Washington leutenant colonel. He then sent Washington back to Ohio with a militia. -
The Albany Plan
Representitives from many different colonies wanted to find them selves against the french. They also hoped to persaude the Iroquois to support the British.
