The Ottomans took Greece enslaving them in their own homeland for the Ottomans needed to expand their economy and power to become the rulers of the strongest kingdoms. -

The Greek people actually attempted a revolt long before the Greek war of independence though they were demolished before it even began and with broken spirits the Ottomans took over their land for many years to come. -

Thomas Hobbes
One of two enlightenment thinkers that influenced the Greek Revolution, Hobbes created the idea that all men (and women) were born wicked and required an absolute monarch. -
John Locke
The second of the two thinkers that influenced the Greek Revolution created the idea that the government should protect the three natural rights; Life, Liberty, and property so the Greeks believed that the current government failed to protect any of those rights. -
Enlightenment with the Greek people
learning about both Hobbes and Locke inspired the people that they can change their government themselves without the Ottoman oppressors looming over their shoulders -
The French Revolution
The French Revolution deeply influenced the Greek revolution for it gave hope for the people because if the French can rebel so can the Greeks even if they were to fail. -

The leader of this rebellion, Alexandros, struck the first blow to the Ottomans because he believed that they were weak enough to be able to fight for the Ottoman Empire was currently in a war. -

The Greek war of independence also known as the Greek revolution lasted 11 years with the Greeks as the victors, they later declared their independence to the Ottoman empire and were free from their tight grasp. -
Government
The Greeks after the war decided to change their government with the ideas of Locke and Hobbes and created an absolute monarchy that protects the three natural laws of the people creating the base of what they have today. -
