13th Amendment
The 13th Amendment abolished slavery in the United States. Some consequences of the 13th Amendment were that it restricted some forms of bound labor and servitude. -
14th Amendment
The 14th Amendment granted citizenship to all people that were born in the United States. Which also means that all citizens are provided with equal protection under the laws. A consequence would be if you didn't want to be a US citizen but were born there, then you still were. -
15th Amendment
The 15th Amendment grants the right to vote for all male US citizens no matter their ethnicity. A consequence of this, which wasn't bad, is that the republican party grew way stronger because African Americans could vote. -
Enforcement Act of 1870
The Enforcement Act of 1870 prohibited discrimination while voting. There were penalties for people if they were interfering with someone voting. The president also had to use federal marshals to enforce these rules. A consequence of this is that many KKK members were arrested which is good. -
Enforcement Act of 1871
The Enforcement Act of 1871 permitted federal oversight of state and local elections if 2 citizens in a town of 20,000 or more wanted it. This was basically like the Civil Rights Act of 1875 but more efficient.A consequence of this is that this Act had more extreme punishments and higher fines so people were punished more from this Act. -
Ku Klux Klan Act
The KKK Act basically stated that the acts of the KKK will be dealt with by militia. It also helped enforce the 14th amendment. A consequence of this Act is that it temporarily stopped violence from the KKK. -
Civil Rights Act of 1875
The Civil Rights Act of 1875 guaranteed African Americans equal treatments in public areas. Whether that be restaurants or train stations. One consequence is that most southern states didn't listen to legislation and didn't treat African Americans equally.
