In 1841, Friedrich Engels joined the Prussian Army, and served in the artillery regiment. -
Karl Marx
In 1842, Engles traveled to Manchester, England to work for his father's Manchester firm. While he was there, he met Karl Marx. Although their first impressions of each other were not pleasant, they ended up working together and being friends for years. Engles and Marx would go on to produce their first joint work known as "The German Ideology". -

Death
Friedrich Engels died of a long battle with throat cancer on August 5, 1895. By his request, he was cremated following his death and had his ashes scattered along the chalky cliffs at Beachy Head (Near Eastbourne, a town in England) .
