France and Britain prepare for War
The Nazis had bombarded Belgium and so British and French armies come together. They set up defensive forces to defend themselves. They used the Maginot Line as their main defences. -

German Nazis bipass the Maginot Line
The French forces had set themselves up in the Maginot Line. Since the Germans had known this after WW1 they decided to send forces ahead to take care of the weak forces along Belgium. By doing this they totally bipassed the French forces. -
Allies losing.
The Allies fail all counterattakcs at the Nazi's. The troops start to retreat to Britain or the French coast. Britain vessels are there waiting to evacuate all soldiers. -
Rescue at Dunkirk
The German Luftwaffe (Airforce) was bombing the city port, Dunkirk. So the forces retreated called Operation Dynamo. The rescue lasted 10 days in which 338,000 soldiers were rescued. Sadly two divisions stayed as gaurd and were captured by Nazi troops. -
Paris surrenders
Without any more forces after leaving to Britain, France surrenders to the Nazi's. Now the Germans occupy Northern France. A little later they set up bases and take over French ports. -
Operation Jubilee
An ambibious attack to try and take back France. The Allies make it onto the beach but many tanks are lost in battle. Over 3,000 casualties. -
Monte Cassino, Italy
Allies attack but quickly retreat to plan a new strategy. Allies bomb German defences but major lossed on their side make them retreat and try to rebuild their forces. Mean the Germans increase their defences. With attacks and weather delays this operation takes about 4 months. Costing them 50,000 casualities from both sides of the war. -
Beginning of D-Day
By now Hitler had occupied France for 4 years. American forces land on beaches Omaha and Utah lead by Dwight D. Eisenhower. Canadians land on Juno with no prevail to the prepared Germans. Americans are able to hold Utah beach. Later Allied forces take Sword and gold beaches. -
End of D-Day
The British and Canadians combined their beaches to have one huge union. The Nazi's attack Sword beach. Allies bombard the German troops and allowed their forces to move inland. The Nazi's soon retreat and D-Day has come to an end. 160,000 Allies sodiers invaded and only 9,000 died. -
Hitler's end
French troops march in celebration of Frnace being liberated from Nazi's. Now all of Northern France was free. this marked the end of Hitler's reign.
