YouTube was Founded
YouTube was founded by three paypal employees Chad Hurley, Steve Chen,and Jawed Karim. Chad Hurley orginally studied design at Indiana university of Pennslyvanina. Chen and Karim went to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where they studied computer science. They all came together for their creation of Youtube. -
The First Youtube Video
The first video uploaded to youtube was "Me at the zoo" by Jawed Karium. This video was filmed at San Diego Zoo. Where he talks about the elephant behind him. The video was only about 19 secounds long. -
Google Purchased Youtube
Google bought Youtube for $1.65 billion stock 20 months after youtube was started. -
Youtube launches in other countries
Youutbe launches in versons of other launuages including French. Other versons also exsit in the UK, Spain, Netherlands, Brazil, Italy, and Japan. This created the opportunity to share videos across the world changing the dynamic of the internet for more people to get connected. -
Person of the Year
Youtube was on the front cover of Time Magizine. Many people wrote reviews including Wall Street Journal and New York Times. This helped increase the number of users. -
Youtube Livestreams
Youtube started livestreaming to watch videos live as they were getting filmed. Chaning the video sharing webpage to have almost tv like features. -
1 Billlion Views
Youtube reaches one billion views from the music video Gangam Style. Showing how far youtube has come.
