Early in this year baseball players used railroad gloves for hand protection while catching the baseball. -

In 1926 Wilson Baseball Mitt, Model No. 638, Virgil Barnes Endorsement. Single tunnel web connects the forefinger and thumb with lace passed through sewn in loops. Player endorsements are more common. -
3 Finger Glove
Rawlings created the 3 finger glove that provided extra padding and strength. -
Softball Glove
Rawlings created the first eversoftball glove. It was specifically used for just softball. -
First Base Mit
Rawlings created the first baseman glove. It was invented to increase fielding percentages. -
Mickey Mantle Glove
Mickey Mantle famous glove that had extended fingers for better control. Rawlings sells it with Mantles autograph on it for more attraction. -
Wilson A2000
The Wilson's A2000 became the official glove of the MLB. -
Duke Snyder Glove
This glove had a "S" shaped webbing that attatched the thumb to the palm of the glove. -
Catcher Glove
In the early 1960's Rawlings created the catchers glove. It was used to make the "pop" sound by using the the heart of the hide (leather). -
Batting gloves
Former Major League ballplayer Ken "Hawk" Harrelson is credited with introducing the batting glove to baseball in 1960. They were used to have padding on your hands while batting. -
Outfielder's Glove
After the 12" rule in the 1950's, companies began to make 13"-14" gloves for the outfielders in mid 1970's. -
Infielders Glove
In 1990 baseball companies made gloves smaller around 10"-10.25" and used them as a infielders glove. A shorter glove is better used for fielding ground balls. -
