-THe vietnam War started on November 1, 1955 and lasted till April 30, 1975.
-THe war was between communist north vietnam and the United states and south vietnam.
- THis was the first Living room was, and morale was low.
- 2 million Vietnamese were killed, and around 50,000 American soldiers were killed in this war. -
Elvis Presley
-Elvis Presley aka the king of Rock and Roll
-Older generation were appalled by the way he danced and shook his hips.
-He released his demo and later was taken under the wing personally by Sam Philips who was a record label owner, then he was signed by the record label and began touring
-While getting offers for a movie, Elvis' song Heartbreak Hotel reached number one
-Nine years after he passed away he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -
Little Rock Nine
-Nine black students were selected to go to an all white school
-This was as a result of the supreme court declaring segregation in public schools unconstitutional.
-On september 2, 1957, the nine students were blocked entry to the school by the national guard of Arkanas
- In respone, President Eisenhower sent federal troops to escort the nine students. Chapter : 27 The Cvil Rights Movement.

Students for a Democratic Society.
- SDS was a foundation that was against the vietnam war.
- They held anti war demostrations and were against the drafting of students. THeir protest tacrics included occupying colleges and administrations buildings.
- by the late 1960s the groupstarted getting growingly militant, some groups even using terrorist tacics.

Assassination of John. F. Kennedy
-He was confident about his re election.
-Departed fro campaign in texas on ovember 21, along with the first lady.
-In dallas, as he was passing the texas school block depository, he was shot in the head and neck. he was ushed to a hospital just a few minutes away but couldnt be saved.
-An hour before Lydon B. Johnsons was swore into office, Lee Harvey Oswald was was arrested asa suspect for assassination Chapter: 28 The Kennedy and Johnson Years.

John Lennon and the Beatles.
- John Lennon asked Paul Mccartney to join his band, making them the most successful group. -The Beatles were discovered by Brian EPtein in 1961. -Their first single was called " Love me do" and was released in October 1962 in UK and in APril 1964 in the US. THie rpopularity only rose from thereon

-Founded by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale
-The Black Panther Party practicdd selfe defense and military training to fight racism.
-THeir goal was to achieve political, social, and economical equlity for for the colored people. -
Assassination of Robert Kennedy
-Robert Kennedy was a Democratic party presidential candidate.
- He was shot threee times after he gave his speech at a ballroom of Ambassador Hotel.
-THe shooter was a palestinian immigrant called sirhan sirhan.
- Sirhan still remaind imprisoned. -
Ping Pong DIplomacy
-The Chinese invited the American Ping Pong team to China when they were in Japan for the 31st world table tennis championships.
-They also invited 10 journalists to come visit. All expenses were paid for by the republic. CHapter : 29 The vietnam war Era.

Watergate Scandal.
-President Nixon was involved in a scandal where he sent seven burglars to tap phone wires and steal documents from the DNC.
- They were arrested and because of this president nixon resigned, and was put in jail.
-His crimes were pardoned by Gerald Ford. -
Hurricane Carmen
-Hurricane CArmen was formed in august 29, 1964. It was one of the hurricanes in the 1974 Atlantic hurricane season and was also the most destructive.
-The hurricane caused hundreds of thousands of people to leave their homes, and killed 8 people.
-It dissipated on September 10, 1974 -
Apple
-Apple computer was created by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.
-Originally, Apple had low shares and bad sales.
- STeve jobs was then made CEO and after the introduction of the iPod and the iTunes store, sales skyrocketed
