  • Handley Page Bomber

    Frederick Handley created the Handley Page Bomber in 1916.In 1918 he had created a four-engine bomber to attack industrial zones.Close to the end of the war, they began using huge bombs that weighed 1650 lbs.The Royal Air force had 258 of these powerful bombers on active service after the Armistice was signed.

    This plan was equipped with 11 to 13 machine guns, and could hold about 9,600-pound bomb load.This machines had Four 1,200-horsepower engines and reached a speed of 287 MPH.the planes earned the reputation from the Japanese of the "four-engine fighters.This Bombers were hated by Germans because they would bomb all their aircrafts and loss many men to them. On Black Tueday, The Germans took down 77 B-17 bombers out of 291 ("B-17 Flying Fortress History." )

    It was introduced in May, 1944 and retired in June 1960.It is a $9 million project to produce a B-29.This strategic bomber was used for many years in the United States Air Force as well as the Royal Air Force.It dropped the “little boy on Hiroshima killing 3,756 people.
