    In 1967 The "Ye Olde Deluder Satan" law was passed. This law was the start of hiring teachers to educate all children. This law also allowed the use of taxation to pay for schooling. This started the idea that an educated person is a more respectful and law abiding citizen.

    In 1821 the first public high school was opened in Boston, Massachusetts. This high school was created to prepare men for a professional public and private life free of charge.

    In 1959 the Public Law 85-926 was passed. This law offered training preparation and support for Special Education teachers. This allowed all students, including students with disabilities to be educated together in a normal school setting.

    In 1965 the ESEA was passed This was the first act passed to help end the effects of poverty on children's education. This act helped children that were from low income gain early education support and services. The ESEA introduced Head Start Programs and Title 1 Programs across the nation. These programs were to help economically disadvantaged students the opportunity to be successful in school.
