Samuel Morse created the first telegraph and Morse code in New York (United States).These inventions helped society to be able to communicate from one place to another on the other side of the world in seconds. The telegraph was very useful and widely used by the governments of countries to communicate with their allies. -
Dynamite
Dynamite was invented by Alfred Nobel (in Sweden) who was a Swedish chemist. Dynamite was the first safe explosive more powerful than black gunpowder. Its three main uses were demolition, mining and railway line work. Dynamite changed the way miners worked, for example, helping them to do excavations much faster and with less effort. -
Telephone
It was invented by Alexander Graham Bell in USA. In 1877 the Bell Telephone Company was created and in 1886 Americans already had a telephone. This invention caused great changes in humanity since they could now communicate over long distances without having to leave their city, and it even helped transmit news between countries and thus spread it faster. -
Radio
Marconi create a radio in Niton (England) that become the first transatlantic communication without cables (by radio waves). With this invention, ships could communicate with the port and this invention managed to save the lives of many sailors who managed to be warned of storms or catastrophes. Marconi sent the first communication across the open sea at a distance of six kilometers, from the Bristol Channel to Penarth. -
Light Bullb
It took Edison 14 months and 40 thousand dollars to present the electric light bulb in 1879. The announcement of this was made in their laboratory in New Jersey, where people saw the light bulb shine for 48 hours. This invention changed personal horaries (now they could do anything at any time), work days began to be longer, this caused new businesses, and the creation of electrical networks. -
Car with internal combustion engine
Carl Benz (founding partner of Mercedes-Benz) created a gasoline-powered motorized vehicle with three wheels in Berlin, Germany. The creation of the automobile helped people and goods to move from one place to another more quickly and easily. The first car in the world had one horsepower and when making long journeys you had to stop several times to refuel even, it was a much faster vehicle than those that existed in the past. -
Cinematographe
The cinematograph was invented by the Lumiere brothers in France. Cinema was a common reality for the entire society, it has had a lot of influence on the way people see the world, the aspirations of society, the evolution of thought and the same feelings were reflected in the people who watched the same movie. It was a way to create a connection with the people sitting next to you in the cinema. -
Powered air plane
Orville Wright managed to make the first flight. It only lasted 12 seconds and traveled 36 meters, but this advance was very important for the aeronautical industry. This first flight was made in Kitty Hawk, a state in North Carolina (USA). Thanks to this advance, today we can cross the world in hours. The Wright Brothers also studied aerospace and space exploration (they created satellites, space travel, etc).
