After beating John Quincy Adams after his corrupt bargain, Andrew Jackson became the 6th president of the United States, and was a Democratic Republican. He is known to be the only president who served in the military during both the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. He won the battle of New Orleans, signed the Indian Removal Act, and was known to be a duelist. -
The Indian Removal Act
The Indian Removal act was passed by Andrew Jackson. This act allowed the President to exchange lands west of the Mississippi in exchange for Indian territories within state borders. Most tribes, understandably, resisted forcefully, which led to many lives lost.
