    Monteith with arms of Gibbs and Nelthorpe
    A monteith was filled with ice water to cool wineglass. The wineglasses were suspended in the water by the foot held in the notches on the rim. Usually monteiths were made of silver, so this monteith is rare because it is built out of glass. It is engraved with the arms that commemorated the marriage of William Gibbs of Horsley Park, Essex, Date: 1700
