  • First Gulf War

    In early August 1990, Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein ordered the invasion of neighboring Kuwait. The fighting lasted for 42 days. Bush ordered a cease fire and the war ended.
  • Oklahoma City Bombing

    A truck, packed with explosives was parked outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. This bombing left 168 people dead and more than 650 people injured. Included in the death toll, 19 young children died.
  • United States Involvement In Serbia

    In 1998, the US and NATO stepped in to stop the Serbian Genocide.
  • World Trade Center Bombing

    A terrorist bomb exploded in a parking garage of the world trade center.
  • Attack on the USS Cole

    On this day, a small motorized boat ,called a dinghy, loaded with explosives blew a 40 by 40 foot hole in the port side of the USS Cole. At the time the US Navy ship was at Aden, Yemen. Seventeen sailors were killed and 38 were wounded.
  • Invasion of Afghanistan

    On October 21, 2001, the US invaded Taliban with intense bombing. This also lead to the 9/11 attack in New York and Washington D.C.
  • 9/11

    On September 11, 2001, a group of terrorists names " al-Qaeda" hijacked four airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against the US. Two of the four planes hit the twin towers in New York City, and one other plane hit the Pentagon right outside of Washington D.C. The fourth plane hit a field in Pennsylvania. Roughly 3,000 people were killed in these attacks.
