CHARACTERS: The characters in the Lodger are very steryo typical of a thriller genre film. There is a dominant man (The Lodger) played by Ivor Novello and a vulnerable young woman called Daisy. The steryotype of these characters makes thriller movies recognisable. Mr and Mrs Buntingare your usual steryotypical parents who love and care for the wellbring of Daisy which they believe is put at risk with the new lodger. -

NARRATIVE: The main plotline is about a hunt for a murderer known as Jack the Ripper. The film is by Alfred Hitchcok, a famous movie director in the 1920's.
ICONOGRAPHY: The poster is of a man in a shady figure: This relates to the theme of mystery thriler. The use of red in the title has connotations of blood, murder and death. All of these themes relate to th estory of Jack the Ripper and his actions. The fact that the man is looking away makes him look shady and suspicious. -

STYLE: This film is a silent film due to the fact that the editors and producers didnt have the correct material to add sound. The film is in straight cuts, with mid shots and close ups on key things that they wanted the audience to focus on. -

NARRATIVE: The plot of this film is that there is a man who wants to plot to kill his wife, or have her murdered. He wanted to do this because he wished to enherit her familys inheritance. Soon after he found out about an affair his wife was having against him. Using this as a motive he plots a genius plan to kill his wife and her lover. -

The image of the "M" is similar to those that an anominous stalker would leave in order to hide their identity. This has connotations of mystery and thriller. CHARACTERS: The characters in this piece are mostly steryotypical. There is a strong male lead who is agressive (Tony Wendice) there is also a seemingly vulnerable woman who is (Margrot Wendice). However theire is a fight against steryotypes as Margrot Wendice is also plotting behind her husnands back and is acting unladylike. SETTING: This film is set in London in the 1950's. -

NARRATIVE: Blow out is about a man who is a qudio filmer on a movie set, who while filming managed to capture evdence in an audio format of the presidents assasination. The movie is based around what he does with this evidence.

CHARACTERS: The main chaacter in this is played by John Travolta. He portrays hes characcter as someone whoh as a seceret which has elements of the thriller genre. SETTING: The film is set in Italy and France. STYLE: The style of the film has much more advanced style of filming. It has match on action and lots of scenery shots. This enables the audience to see what is around the situation and helps create an even more dramatic atmosphere. -

This is alot more advanced than previous years. The camera equiptment is very high quality and editing now days makes cuts much more realistic. -

CHARACTERS: This character list is much similar to those in the 20's and 50's with the idea of using a vulnerable young woman or girl who is overpowerd by a lead roll man, who in this film is the cult leader and controlls the men and women. SETTING: The film is set in America which is different to the movie in the 80's which was set in Italy and France.
