First Camera is created
In 1816, French inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niépce created the first homemade camera. The camera also took the first photo with silver chloride covered paper. This invention started the entire film era as well as films were created with illusion of the eye from these photos. -
The Daguerreotype Camera is Create
In 1839, Louis-Jacques-Mande Daguerre invented the Daguerreotype camera. This camera allowed for images to be taken clearer and with more detail. This camera would gain the attention of the masses, and eventually a company was created to take portrait photos of famous people and politicians. -
A Breakthrough in Film
In 1877, American photographer Eadweard Muybridge was trying to find a way to create motion pictures. He lined up 12 cameras across a Sacramento horse race and fixed them to take a picture of a horse racer at different points of the horse gallop. He then took these images and put them on a rotating disk. This was then projected onto a screen from a magic lantern and it created one of the first motion pictures. -
The Innovations of The Film Cameras
In 1877, a laboratory assistant of Thomas Edison, William Kennedy Laurie Dickson, developed the Kinetograph. This new camera was able to have a celluloid film at the rate of about 40 frames per second. This new camera allowed for films to be recorded and watched. Unfortunately, only one person could watch the film at a time. -
A Different Type of Camera
In 1882, French physiologist Étienne-Jules Marey invented a ground breaking new camera. He called it the chronophotographic gun because it was a camera in the shape of a rifle. This unique camera was able to create record 12 successive photographs per second and was used to study the activity of birds. -

The Edison company developed a Kinetograph studio which was the first time a company offered for people to see motion pictures. A parlor was opened later that year. This parlor was in New York City and an admission price of 25 cents was issued to gain access to five film machines. -
Le Voyage dans la Lune (A Trip to The Moon)
In 1902, a film called Le Voyage dans la Lune had a historical influence in film history. This film production, which was created by Georges Méliès, became the first film to be shown worldwide. This, however, was mainly because of piracy and the watching and spreading of this film illegally. -
The "First" Blockbuster
In 1915, the movie 'Birth of A Nation" became the first blockbuster based on the time's standard. The movie grossed $250 dollars on release and tickets sold for $2. This movie, however, led to violent, racial acts against African Americans and former slaves due to the content in the movie depicting African Americans in a bad light. The movie was later under threat of being taken down by people who fought for civil rights. -

In 1927, a film called The Jazz Singer became the first film to include sound in the movie. All other films had been silent ones with just pictures. The soundtrack used in the movie eventually branched off and was sold as a song. -

In 1975, Jaws, a movie released by Steven Spielburg, became the first summer blockbuster according to today's standards. People would often round a entire block, waiting in line to see this movie. The movie was also the first to earn $100 million dollars at the box office. -

Today, movies have advanced very far from the use of CGI to animated movies to now the trend of streaming movies. Many companies now actively find new ways to add new elements to movies that are enjoyable for us to watch. Movies will advance and change as well as improve for years to come.
