Golden Globes
At 20th Century Fox Studios, the first Golden Globe Awards ceremony was held. The ceremony began with the presentation of scrolls (instead of trophies) to honorees (rather than nominees) who had been announced earlier. The Golden Globe Awards still exist to this day -

In 1951 The Motion Pictures Production Code forbid films from dealing with abortion or narcotics. This was very important because films were starting to be censored. This was also a way for people to force politics into the film industries -

The first Star Was Movie was released in 1977. Star Wars was a very popular movie that is still popular to this day. It was the first movie of its kind. -

In 1982 Silicon Graphics was founded. They helped to grow computer imaging and animation in films. Without Silicon Graphics we would not have made as much progress in animation as we did. -
DVD
In 1997 DVDs were starting to pop up in stores around America. DVDs were the main way to watch old episodes of shows and films before streaming. DVDs are still used today but not nearly as popular as they once were -

The popular film Avatar released in 2009. Avatar was the highest grossing films of its decade. To this Day Avatar is regarded as one of the best films of all time. -
Netflix Streaming Service
In 2011 Netflix became exclusively a streaming service. Netflix becoming a Streaming service was a huge deal at the time. Netflix becoming a streaming service started the downfall of DVDs.
