Film stared with a bet of 25,000 ,that all of horeses feet come off the ground at one point. The wealthy buisness man hired someone to take a series of pictues to prove his therory. Then the noticed if they moved their heads it seemed to move. -
Moving Images
In 1895 Edison created the peephole parlor. This was so people could see these short films. but he also created the projector which he did not release because he wanted money from peephole parlors. -
The Projector
on febuary 13 1895 the lumiere brithers created and patended the projector. They did this not knowing edison had already made the projecter. This action made Edison angry. -
Lumiere brothers Short films
In 1895 the Lumiere Brothers stared making short films. They were all about 30 to 60 seconds long. They also made one of a train coming towards the camera that scarred people. -
Nickelodeons
The movie theader in 1895 were very popular. they eventually called them nickelodeans because they only costed a nickle. Then later in the 1990 they made a cartoon channel called nickelodeon. -
Vaudeville Theaders
The vaudeville theater was first recored in 1827 but was used for short films in 1895. They were designed to hold plays but the housed movies. They also had short musical numbers in between films. -
MMPC
origionally Edison would not relase the names of the cast because he did not want to pay them more. Because if they were famous they would demand more money. Other companys saw the benefit of having stars. -
The Edison Monopoly
In 1908 Edison created the motion picture patents company. This made every body use his rules and pay him to make a film. eventually people found a way around this. -
Mary Pickford
Mary pickford was a famous actor in this era. She was in amny films but never was known in her early carreer because of the MMPC. She later became very know. -
First Narritive movie
in 1910 Edwin Porter directed a movie called "The Great Train Robbery." Along with Thomas Edison he produced this movie. it was one of the longest films to come out at 12 minutes long. -
L.A.
Origonally people filmed in new york but when MMPC wouldent let them film they moved to L.A. THis was done because it was far away from MMPC. This was also done beacuse if they did come to mexico the can flee to mexico. -
Charlie Chaplin
Charlie chaplin was never know until 1922. He was origonally payed $150 for his films later was payed $22 million. He is well known for his work. -
