    The first film was created when two people were betting on wether or not a horse runs with 4 feet off the ground. They took multiple pictures of a horse running. In the end they made the pictures in a rapid sequence.

    The first film machine was a peep hole type thing. You stick your eye into it and a rapid flash of screenshots appear. It was the first theatre.

    Peephole Kinetoscope
    A machine of some sorts that shows rapid pictures. Inspired tv shows lots of media. He made lots of money too.

    The Lumiere brothers made the "video" on screen for people to see. They did something Thomas Edison didnt want to do. They were short like 30 - 60 seconds
  • Vaudeville

    Vaudeville was a small set of theatres. Lots of small acts and little funny segments. Later it expanded into nickelodeon
  • Nickelodeon

    Nickelodeon
    Nickelodeons were theatres with small films with piano music. It had sound effects with music. Later it expanded into the popular nickelodeon tv channel.

    Edwin porter created the first film. It was the train robbery. 14 scenes and 12 minutes.

    A bunch of companies came into the film business. Even Thomas Edison led a team of film makers. Lots of independent companies were made.

    The film industry originated in the west coast. It changed due to the weather conditions there. It was also bad in the east coast because it wasn't safe there.

    The MPPC didn't give out the actors names in fear of them wanting more money. It was also the fact that they would get famous too. That soon changed when they realized people would pay to keep watching movies with said actors.
  • Charlie Chaplin

    Charlie Chaplin
    Charlie Chaplin was the first 20th century star. He earned $150 per week but that later turned into 1 million dollars a year. He used his films to convey good and evil in society.
  • MPPC

    MPPC
    The MPPC stands for motion pictures patents company. They were a trust led by Thomas Edison. They raided and tried to prevent independent companies from making movies.
