The Kinetoscope Peephole was invented by Thomas Edision. It could only be watched by one person looking through the hole to see the film. Thomas Edison espesially desighned it this way so he could earn more money than having a projector. -
Cinematographe
The Lumiere brothers created cinematographe. This made it possible for many people to enjoy the same film at the same time. -
First Narrative Film
The first narritive film being The Great Train Robbery in 1903 which was directed by Edwin Porter an employee of Thomas Edison.This movie was a silent short western film which was an epic at that time being 12 minutes long when most films where roughly 30-60 seconds. -
Nickelodeons
Nickelodeons where established in 1905 by Harry Davis in Pittsbough which became very popular this led to an great expand of Nickelodeons across America by 1910. Nickelodean usuallly lasted 15 minutes. They also costed five cents and that how they got there name from nickel. -
First Animated Film
Fantasmagorie by the French director Emile Cohl was the first animated film. The animation was hand drawn silent film that lasted roughly 2 mininutes. -
Motion Pictures Patent Company
Thomas Edison created MPPC which owned all the film industries and if you where and independent film maker who would mostly get all your equipment broken including your actors to prevent you from making fils again with out being in the MPPC. -
Hollywood
Independent Film makers went to south California or Hollywood to not be threathened by the MPPA and if they were they can flea to Mexico. The first studio in Hollywood was the Nestor Studios in 1911. -
Movies with Sound
Movies did not have sound till the 1920's before this some one would play music or make sounds and noises. The Jazz Singer 1927 was the first feuture length film with sound but other short films had sound before this. -
First 3D Film
The film The Power of Love was the very first 3D film. It was 3D by using two projectors. The film is now presumed lost. -
First Colored Animated Film
Snow white and the 7 dwarfes was the first colored animated film. This was also disneys first full length production. It was also the highest grossing sound film of that time. -
First Colored that wasn't Animated
The Wizard and Oz was not quite the first colored film but it was one that was the first full length colored film. It was filmed with technicolor and was a musical fantasy film. It was also MGMS most expensive film of that time costing $2,777,000. -
First Computer Animated Film
The first full length computer animated film was Toy Story produced by Disney Pixar. First Disney Pixar produced short computer animated films but this was the first full length film using just computer animation.
