    Digital Film

    At this time films were making the switch to digital. This would allow for a movie to be viewed on the internet, granted you paid of course. This would eventually lead to the online movie sensation.
  • The Projector

    The Projector
    The first projector created in 1895 was revolutionary. It allowed the user to play images in such a fast motion it looked like a moving image. With the use of film that would come in rolls, the projected would spin the the roll and there'd it into the lens. There light would shine through the film and project the image in a bigger size for the audience to see.
  • The First Narrative Movie

    No this isn't the first movie EVER. It's the first movie with an actual narrative. It was called "The Great Train Robbery". It was also one of the longest movies then coming in at a wapping 12 minuets.
  • The Nickelodeons

    At this time Nickelodeons started to become popular. They were averaging about 26 million viewers a week. And this is when you started to pay money to watch movies.
  • FINALLY SOME SOUND!

    Movies had finally done it, they got some sound. At this age of movie production movies finally started to get some dialogue. You were able to hear actors speak in the movie.
  • Color

    Color
    In the late 1930s the first movie to have colored film was made. I'm pretty sure you know what it is. That's right it's "The Wizard Of Oz". The first movie to use color was finally made and astonished everybody. Nobody thought it was possible until this movie was made.
  • The Golden Age

    Hollywood's golden age had reached a peak by 1940. At this time the eight largest studios were Warner Brothers, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, RKO Radio, Twentieth Century Fox, United Artists, Paramount, Universal, and Columbia. They controlled more than 90% of film production and distribution. The big studios were making at least one film per week.
  • TV Threatens The Movie Industry

    At this time the Hollywood film industry of 1950 was threatened on several different fronts. Television broadcasting was rapidly becoming the dominant entertainment medium in the United States.
  • Still In A Slump

    At this time moviemaking remained in a slump at the start of the 1960s. Moviemakers struggled to come up with successful way against the rising popularity of TV, which kept former movie viewers at home. One strategy was to make big-budget films that TV producers simply could not make.
  • Sharks Resurrect Hollywood

    In 1975 the famous movie "Jaws" was made. It was such a popular movie people who would usually watch TV instead of movies started watching movies again.
  • CGI

    At this time the use of CGI started being used in movie production. This would make the movies seem more realistic with effects that were simply impossible before. This would be a massive boost fr the movie making companies.

    Modern Day

    It's safe to say movies have come a long way. From soundless films in black and white to colored films with intense sound effects and music being viewed in 4K resolution. Some of the best selling movies were made in this time period.
