    The camera was partially invented in 1816 by Nicéphore Niépce. He used a very small camera of his own making a piece of paper coated in silver chloride, which darkened where it was exposed to light.

    The Peephole Kinetoscope was invented in 1891. They were sold to parlors for people to watch, but only one person could watch them at a time.

    The Lumiere Brothers, who were French, did what Edison would not do, they created a projector that was big enough to show to an entire audience

    First movie made was a narrative produced in 1903 made by Edwin Porter. Porter made The Great Train Robbery which was 12 minutes long

    Nickelodeons were small movies shown inbetween sets of a play to make them more popular. They were shown more frequently the more popular they got

    Movies started introducing sound around this time, which lead to the creation of Talkies. One of the first talkies was The Jazz Singer, which featured dialogue from the actors themselves

    Some films were experimenting in color back in 1912, but it wasn't until late 1930's where they used color normally. After experimenting, producers started to use color in all their movies
  • The Wizard of OZ

    The Wizard and Oz was one of the first movies to use color back then. Then Gone with the Wind used color in that film too, which caused a chain reaction to have everyone use color in their films
  • Film to Digital

    In the 2000's the transition to digital had begun, and by 2010, digital was being normal used to produce movies. Digital was more advanced, and could provide a clearer picture aside from film, which was expensive and only used for retro purposes
