C. Francis Jenkins and Thomas Armat were the true inventors of the Motion Camera but Thomas Edison took credit and called it the "Edison Vitascope".

Rotating Camera

First Movie Theater Opens

The first movie theater opens in Pittsburgh. Harry Davis and John P. Harris were the creators of this theater. It seated 96 people and thry called the theater "Nickelodeon" because it cost a nickel to watch.

MPAA Invented

William Hays formed the "Motion Picture Distributors Association of America". A self-censorship system, known as the "Hays Code", was developed to ensure absence of offfensive material and prevent from government interface in filmaking.

First 3D Movie

The "Power of Love" was the first confirmed 3D film. It was premiered at the Ambassador Hotel Theater in Los Angeles.

First Microphone Movie

PG-13 invented
