Battle of Lexington & Concord
Location: Lexington & Concord, Massachusetts
WINNER: American Colonials This battle kicked off the Revolution. British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord to seize an arms cache. Paul Revere and several other riders set out to warn Militiamen of the Redcoats movements. From there the Militiamen rushed to intercept the Redcoats column, and meet on the Lexington town green. This is where the British retreated under heavy fire from the Americans. -
Siege Of Ft. Ticonderoga
Location: Ticonderoga, NY
WINNER: American Colonials Considered to be "America's first victory" in the Revolution. A small force of Green Mountian Boys led by Ethan Allen & Colonel Benedict Arnold overcame a small British garrison at the fort & looted the belongings. Cannons & other firearms were sent to Boston to help in the war effort. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
Location: Charlestown, Massachusetts
WINNER: British Significance: This battle created a big morale boost for the Americans, it convinced the colonist that we had a chance against the British. -
Battle of Quebec
Location: Quebec City, Province of Quebec (Now Canada)
WINNER: Decisive British Victory
Significance: The mission that planned to capture the British-occupied city failed. It was the first major defeat of the Revolutionary War for the Americans. -
Battle of Long Island
Location: Kings County, Long Island, New York
WINNER: British Significance: Having America's first spy hanged at the end of the battle it signified that the Colonial Rebels were no longer being treated as British citizens, but as foreign combatants. -
Battle of Ft. Washington
Location: Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York
WINNER: British Significance: Continental Army suffered 3000 casualties, together with the loss of cannons and thousands of military supplies. -
Battle of Trenton
Location: Trenton, New Jersey
WINNER: Decisive American Victory Significance: Being both outnumbered and outgunned this battle dealt a tremendous blow to Britain's morale, and showed that the colonist would not back down. It showed that the colonist could go anywhere and get anything done. -
Battle of Princeton

WINNER: American Colonials Significance: While it wasn't a big tactical victory, it had a big effect. Cornwallis decided to abandon his position in New Jersey, and, boosted by the victory, 8,000 men joined the continental army. -
Battle of Brandywine
Location: Chadds Ford Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania
WINNER: British Significance: The British troops occupied the capital easily over-powering the 11,000 American troops with a power of 18,000. After their victory they pressed on to Germantown. -
Battle of Saratoga

WINNER: Decisive American
Significance: The Battle of Saratoga 1777 was known as the turning point of the American Revolutionary War. When the French found out that America was surrendering to the British, the French decided to ally themselves with the colonist turning it into a global war. -
Battle of Charleston

WINNER: British, city surrendered
Significance: The significance of the conflict was that the British gained control of South and the Americans lost many soldiers due to the surrender. -
Battle of King's Mountain
Location: Kings Mountain, South Carolina
WINNER: Decisive Patriot victory
Significance: It marked the turning point in revolutionary military fortunes convincing the loyalists to remove themselves from the conflict and setting the stage for ultimate British surrender at Yorktown. -
Battle of Cowpens
Location: Cherokee County, near Chesnee, South Carolina
WINNER: Decisive American
Significance: The significance of the conflict was that it had a devastating effect on British morale, while increasing American's confidence. The Battle of Cowpens, together with the King's Mountain, caused Lord Cornwallis to pull troops from South Carolina and move them farther north. -
Battle of Yorktown
Location: Yorktown, Virginia
WINNER: Decisive French and American victory
Significance: Together French and American soldiers surrounded the British troops and forced them to surrender. The end result in this battle was an American victory for independence, the Treaty of Paris (1783), and the Declaration of Independence. Also America was recognized by the British government.
