In Topeka, Kansas Linda Brown a thrid grader had to walk a mile to school everyday even though a white only school was a block away. Thurgood Marshall took this to Supreme Court and soon blacks and whites were allowed to go to the same school. -
Arrest of Rosa Parks
In Montgomery, AL Rosa Parks was arrested for nonviolent defiance when she refused to move out of her seat for a white passenger. The black community started organizing boycotts and refused to ride the buses. -
Bus Boycott
In Montgomery, Alabama, after the arrest of Rosa Parks. Martin Luther King Jr. and many other protesters were non- violently protesting for equal rights. They refused to ride the buses untill they were desegrageted. It ended a year later when the Montgomery bus segragation laaws were unconstitutional. -

In Greensbro, North Carolina four African American college boys were arrested for civil diobedience when they refused to get up at a whites only lunch counter. After all the protesting blacks were allowed to sit at the whties only lunch counter. -
Martin Luther King Jr. Assination
In Memphis, Tennessee, Martin Luther King Jr. was standing on the balcony in front of his room at the Lorraine Motel when James Earl Ray shot him. James Earl Ray was arrested.
