Birth
Fidel Castro was born in Birán, Republic of Cuba. -
Studies
Knowing almost anything about politic, Castro studied law at the University of Havana. He soon became interested in anti imperialism. He campaigned for the presidency of the Federation of University Students, but didn't succeed. Some years later, he joined the Party of the Cuban People. A dead threat led him to leave the University. -
Rebellion
He joined the Party of the Cuban People. Later in June, he found out an expedition was being planned to overthrow the right-wing government of Rafael Trujillo, and joined it. The military force was though to sail from Cuba on July, but the Grau government stopped the invasion. -
The Movement
The Movement was a military and political group created by Fidel Castro, which published the clandestine journal "El Acusador". -
Prime Minister
Fidel Castro was named Prime Minister of Cuba after José Miró Cardona resigned. -
Cold War
Fidel castro was involved in the cold war, joining with the USSR so he could maintain economic stability. -
Bay of Pigs invasion
CIA plan to overthrow Castro was supported by president Eisenhower, and three cuban military airfields were bombed. Castro ordered Captain José Ramón Fernández to launch a counter offensive, and finally forced the Brigade to surrender. Rebels were captured and interrogated. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
Some nuclear missiles in Cuba sent by Russia to even the power balance were seen as an offensive by the U.S.. Castro was left out of negotiations after opposing to remove them and having signs of starting a nuclear war. He felt betrayed because Khurushchev had removed the missiles, and he was really furious. He continued calling for a global revolution. -
Presidency
He became president, being both head of state and head of government at the same time, after Cuba was identified as a social state and the first National Congress of the Cuban Communist Party was held. -
Death
On 2011, Castro resigned from the Communist Party central committee. Finally, he died after several years of deteriorating health.
