    The Smith Hughes Act was established in 1917 and is considered one of the stepping stones for FFA’s role in agriculture.

    Future Farmers of Virginia (FFV) was established by professors from the university of Virginia Tech. The FFV served as a model for the later Future Farmers of America (FFA).

    In 1926 the first National Congress of Vocational Agricultural Students attended a National Livestock Judging Contest for American Royal Livestock in Kansas City.

    Future Farmers of America (FFA) was established in Kansas City, Mo. Afterwards the first FFA convention was held in Kansas City.

    FFA selected the colors National Blue and Corn Gold as there official colors.

    The blue corduroy jacket was selected as the Official Dress.
  • 1935

    New farmers of America (NFA) was founded in Tuskegee Alabama. David Simmons would go on to be selected as the first NFA president.

    During this period of time America joined WW2. Many patriotic FFA members joined in war efforts to help there country.

    In 1950 the U.S congress passed a bill that grants federal charter for FFA. President Harry Truman would later sign the bill on August 30th.

    The FFA code of Ethics was adopted as well as the National Future Farmer magazine was published.

    In 1953 the Untied States Post Office Department created a stamp that celebrated the 25th anniversary of FFA.

    FFA sells its one millionth iconic FFA jacket.
  • 1965

    NFA and FFA merge after the Civil rights Act of 1964. This marked the end of NFA after 30 years.

    In 1969 FFA opened the opportunity of membership to females.

    The National FFA alumni Association was established in 1971.

    Jan Eberly became the first women to be elected National FFA President.

    The Future Farmers of America changes there name to National FFA organization to better reflect the constant growing diversity in agriculture.

    Corey Flournoy was elected as the first African American National FFA President.

    In 1999 Louisville held the National FFA Convention with a staggering 46,918 in attendance.
  • 2006

    In 2006 the 79th National FFA Convention was held in Indianapolis with 54,589 in attendance.

    In 2017, Breanna Holbert became the first African American women to become National FFA President.
  • 2019

    In 2019, FFA celebrated 50 years of female membership within the organization.
