Polly, a cook at the family coffee house died. Her mother repeated over and over ; Polly sewed by candlelight, she sewed by candlelight...over and over....then she collapsed. They think its the Fever that got her! -
Going to the Market Part 1
Matilda's mother is very strick and doesn't let her do anything. Matilda is so lucky that her grandfather lives with her because he is easy on her. They need eggs, hard cheese, pippin apples, savory and lemons for the coffe house. Mother insiste that she go to the market but Matilda wants to just get some freash air for once so then Grandfather buts in. He helps Matilda beg her mom to let her go and they say that she needs rest and some time to herself. They finnally convice her -
Going to the Market Part 2
As Matilda crossed Fourth Street, she heard the sellers purswading people of the town. She got to the first stall where Mrs. Epler and her husband bring their chickens and the eggs to sell. She got the eggs and put them into her basket and moved on. Next was the lemons. She bought a dozen and moved on. No savory was to be found and the cheese seller was charging a big ammount of money for nasty moldy cheese and no other cheese sellers were to be found. -
Nathaniel Benson
Some snatched Matildas basket at the market. She turned. Nathaniel Benson. A family friend he was. They alked about why they were there and then he started leaving and asked her if she wanted to go fishing with him for trout. They got to the lake and started a conversation about Polly. Nate talked about it and made Matilda tear up. They stopped talking about her and then got to fishing. Her mom is so strick that she wouldn't even let her pull her sleaves up over her elbows. She didn't care. -
Dress up and Tea
Mother had a dress outfit for me for every event ever made. But not Tea with the Ogilives. She had to make me one. We had one made a while later and we were off to the Ogilives house.They got to the front porch and rang the bel and then Pernilla came to the door. Pernilla let them in and callled her daughters, Colette and Jeannine came institly. They drank tea and then Mother asked if Colette was felling good. She was burning. Mother put her fore hand on Colettes head and said........The Fever! -
A Message Part 2
Pernilla Ogilvies name was in the message and her and her family go to Matildas church. It caught grandfathers eye. He looked at the message. Mother dove across the room and grabbed the papers from grandfather. She read " Breaking News... the Ogilvies have invited us to afternoon tea. And its today! " Matilda started makeing excuses not to go. Mother said no we are going. -
A Message Part 1
Mom, Matilda and Grandfather were sitting at the coffee house and getting ready to open for the day when the door bell rang. Grandfather said "We are not open yet" and a faint voice of a young boy called out saying "Message sir." Grandfather got the door and the message and gave some ammount of money to the young boy for the message. He had a thick stack of papers. Mother asked what it was and grandfather said useless crap. Then lets burn it mother insisted. He looked again.
