  • Three systems of Government

    The unitary system is a centralized governmental system in which local or subdivisional governments exercise only those powers given to them by the central government. A confederal system is a system consisting of a league of independent states, each having essentially sovereign powers. The federal system which lies between the unitary and confederal forms of government. The authority is divided by a written constitution between central government and regional, or subdivisional government.
  • The Full Faith and Credit Clause

    This clause protects citizens as they move from state to state. It requires states to respect each others laws and ensure the rights established under deeds, wills, and other civil matters.
  • The Necessary and Proper Clause

    The clause called the elastic clause or necessary and proper clause, provides flexibility to the U.S Constitutional system. This is important because it gives us flexibility to the Constitution which we need with the evolution of time. Needing the flexibility we need to adjust.
  • Gibbons v. Ogden

    In the ruling for this case the supreme court held expanded and codified national powers over state's rights. The commerce clause states that congress is given power to regulate trade among the states and with foreign countries. Marshall agreed that the constitution didn't talk about a national bank.
  • Civil War

    The civil war began with federalist and anti-federalist and the fight over power. The war divided the north and south even more than before. Then the civil war Amendment was created "No state shall deprive any person of life,liberty or property, without due process of law, nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. African american were now counted in full.
  • President Roosevelt

    When president Roosevelt was in office he proposed a new plan. His plan included antipoverty programs and new laws regulating the economy. The NRA is a plan provides codes for every industry to restrict competition and regulate labor. His plans were all to get America out of the Great Depression which was from 1930-1932. Where more than thirty thousand business had closed.
  • The new Federalism

    The new federalism would devolve authority from the national government to the states. This was the republican president Nixon's idea.
  • The Supreme Court

    The U.S Supreme Court plays a significant role between Federal and State powers. The court has increased emphasis to state powers under the Tenth and Eleventh Amendment, This is very important because the power should be divided. The sSupreme Court being more fair is better for making fair decisions.
  • Federalism and State Immigration

    Federalism and State Immigration
    The state of Arizona made it stricter for immigrants to be in Arizona with out proper documentation. They made a law that allowed state law enforcements to ask for documentation from immigrants in traffic stops , detention or arrest. The supreme court upheld part of Arizona's law. In 2013 DACA was created to halt deportation who met certain criteria. This is a controversial issue in today's society because President Trump is now trying to take DACA away.
