New fabrics developed. Start of the hippie style. -

Disco style became popular because of the dance style at the clubs. Women started dressing more like men because they started working more. -

"Power look" became more popular while women joined the work force. Brighter and bolder colors were becoming more popular. -
1990
Americans started dressing down and more casual. Athletic clothes became a wardrobe staple.
