Montag meets his neighbor, Clarisse. I believe Clarisse's importance in the story is to open Montag's mind to change. Once Montag and Clarisse talked, Montag thought about his life, work, and wife entirely different. -

Clarisse is Killed By a Car
Clarisse, Montag's neighbor we learn is hit by a car and is killed. Clarisse not being the biggest character, still influenced a lot of Montag's decision in the book. This death was important to Guy. -

Mildred Attempts Suicide
Montag comes home to MIldred unconscious, he can tell she had attempted suicide. Montag gets Mildred to a emergency hospital and she is saved. Mildred's suicide is a key moment because it shows how she was struggling to overcome her inner troubles. Mildred's obsession with TV shows her fear of fighting her fears. -

Montag Takes a Book From the Burning House
Montag and the firemen are sent to burn a house of an elderly woman. As they do so Montag takes her Bible, Montag knew how much trouble he would get in but did it anyway out of curiosity. The woman chose to burn with her books. -

Montag reads Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold to Mildred and some friends, Mrs.Phelps and Mrs.Bowles. Mrs.Phelps starts to cry and Mrs.Bowles denounced Montag. and claimed "the cause to be the evil, emotional messiness of poetry. -

Cpt. Beatty visits Montag
Beatty noticing Montag has been acting strange, and knew he wasn't going to come in decided to visit him. He came over and reminded Montag that books are banned for everyone's happiness, and that any fireman with a book with have their house burned. -

Montag revisits an old English professor he met at a park. Montag brings the bible to him to ask questions. The both of them plan to meet with a printer to print more copies. Faber also gives Montag the 3 things missing from society, and a little earpiece to communicate. -

Montag Exposes Himself
After trying to hide stealing the books, Montag is caught by Captain Beatty. He starts listing his literature to him and this makes Montag very nervous. Exposing his books to Beatty. -

Montag's House is Burnt
After acting suspicious to captain Beatty, they figure out Montag has been storing books in his house and an order to burn his house down is set. The firemen come to Montag's house and burn it to ash. -

Montag's Escape
After meeting with Faber, Montag planned to flee the city. He used some extra clothes to throw the Hound off. Went to the river and doused himself under. the government created a fake Montag to chase down and killed saying it was Montag. Montag however, got away and meets a new character Granger.
