H.H. Holmes's Murder Castle
During the 1890s, Holmes tortured and killed as many as 200 people in his "murder castle," a large home in Chicago that he opened as a hotel for the 1893 Chicago World's Fair (pictured). Holmes confessed to 27 murders, but only 4 have been confirmed. Testimoney and missing persons reports suggest he may have killed up to 200 people. -
St. Valentine's Day Massacre
Seven mobsters were killed in Chicago allegedly on the orders of gangsters Al Capone and Bugs Moran. Capone would eventually be arrested and sentence to 11 years in Alcatraz Prison (pictured). -
John Dillinger's murder
The infamous bank robber was gunned down outside the Biograph Theater on Lincoln Avenue after a months-long pursuit following Dillinger's escape from an Indiana jail. -
Richard Speck Murders
Speck, a disturbed criminal, broke into a townhouse in Jeffrey Manor and murdered eight nurses. -

Laurie Dann's killing spree
Dann, a sometimes babysitter, was exhibiting strange behavior before killing a child, wounding five more, at a school in Winnetka. She then took a family hostage in their home. Faced with arrest, Dann committed suicide.
