8th December 1980Mark David Chapman was obsessed with John Lennon, the former Beatles singer and political activist. Chapman travelled to New York with the intention to kill. After spending an entire afternoon outside Lennon’s apartment, and also getting an autograph from Lennon and shaking his son’s hand, he shot the music legend in the back several times as he attempted to walk into his apartment. -
Jodie Foster
John Hinckley Jr. enrolled at Yale University so that he could be close to Jodie Foster. John was obsessed and began to send her letters and poems to her door. In one of the letters he outlined the plan to assassinate President Ronald Regan. He did this to try and impress Jodie. He made good his promise and travelled to a hotel in Washington D.C. He proceeded to shoot the President and other members of his party. Reagan survived. -
Kathryn Dettman
Anthony Gary Silvestri had an obsession with news reporter Kathryn Dettman. At Kathryn took a shower, Anthony waited in her bedroom with a knife. As she stepped into the room, he began a violent attack. Silvestri stabbed Dettman with a screwdriver more than a dozen times and left her for dead. He is still serving a 40-year prison sentence. -
Rebecca Schaeffer
Rebecca Schaeffer was a rising star in Hollywood but Robert John Bardo cut that short. Robert showed up and Rebecca’s home and shot her dead in the doorway. This crime was so famous because of the ease at which he got her address. Robert had got hold of her private address through her driving records. The crimes lead to the change of many laws. It included the 1994 Driver’s Privacy Protection Act. This prevents the Department of Motor Vehicles from giving out private addresses. -
Madonna
Robert Hoskins was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he trespasses on Madonna’s property. Previously he had threatened to kill her bodyguards for keeping them apart. He vowed to cut her throat because she would not marry him. -
David Letterman
Margaret Mary Ray was a schizophrenia patient for many years. She decided to fantasise about being David Letterman’s lover. Although he joked about her on his show her actions were no joke. She had broken into his home on several occasions and stolen his Porsche at least once. Margaret killed herself in 1998. -
George Harrison
Cristin Keleher became famous for breaking to the home of former Beatles guitarist George Harrison. Not only did she break into his home, but she helped herself to a frozen pizza. Harrison had been the object of her fantasies for years. After serving 4 months in prison she was back in the news in 2006. This time it was her death. Cristin died from a fatal shot wound in a murder-suicide in California. -

Dante Michael continually sent Gwyneth Paltrow up to 5 letters a day, packages of pornography, flowers, sweets and pizza. He even showed up at her house numerous times. Dante was declared legally insane at the trial. -
Halle Berry
Greg Broussard began to follow Halle Berry; he claimed that god had told him to marry the actress. He sent her letters saying that although he did not want to hurt anyone, he would do anything to ne with the actress. He also sent her an engagement ring and other inappropriate items. -
Michael douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones
Dawnette Knight developed an obsession with Michael Douglas; naturally his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones was enemy number 1. In 2003 and 2004 Knight sent threatening letters to the couple. Some included claims that she would cut up Catherine and feed her to dogs. After a very public trial, knight pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison. -
Uma Thurman
Jack Jordan was found guilty and sentenced to three years probation for stalking Uma Thurman. She testified saying she was scared for herself and children. Jack had made creepy advances, sending cards with sexually suggestive messages and threatening drawings. -
Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio has been granted a restraining order after Livia Bistriceanu claimed she was his wife and carrying his child names Jesus. She has claimed that after she will even be with him in the afterlife. She had been sending his letters and visiting his home.
