Communist troops take over the capital of South Vietnam, Saigon. This ends the Vietnam war as afterwards the South Vietnamese surrendered. -
Pol Pot takes power over Cambodia
Pol Pot's forces take Lon Nol, which starts the series of events that ends with Pol Pot having control over Cambodia. -

Khmer Rouge violence peaks
At this point, the Khmer Rouge is emptying the cities and forcing the urban population to become rice farmers. The Khmer Rouge also begins border raids on Vietnam. -
Khemer Rouge driven out of Cambodia by Vietnam
The genocide in Cambodia is ended when Vietnamese forces drive out the Khemer Rouge and Pol Pot from Cambodia.
