Fad Diet Timeline

  • Vinegar and Water Diet

    This diet encouraged people to mix vinegar with water, and drink it so that they could lose weight.
  • Graham's Diet

    This diet was a bland diet that involved eating no-meat, and one of the main foods involved in it was graham crackers
  • Fletcherizing Diet

    This diet was a concept that involved chewing your food 33 times and then spitting it out. The reasoning behind this was that when we chew our body absorbs the nutritions and therefore there is no need to actually eat the food
  • Hay Diet

    This diet urged people against eating all five foods groups in one meal, as well as separating them from bread and potatoes. This doctor also suggested that people get enema's regulary.
  • Grapefruit Diet

    This diet involved cutting out all carbs and having very little coffee. It also involved eating half a grapefruit with each meal, and eating a high protein diet which required eating bacon.
