The Capture
Billy and Weary are captured. Weary surrenders his boots to a young German soldier whose wooden clogs he receives in exchange. They are brought to a house full of other POW. Then marched to a train where sat for 2 days before they are brought to a prison camp. -
The Factory
After revisiting the plane crash Billy travels back to Dresdon to a factory that manufactures malt syrup.The POWs work there making the molasses intended to serve as a supplement for pregnant women.The prisoners who work at the factory secretly eat the syrup themselves scooping it out of vats with spoons.Billy takes his first spoonful on his second day at work and his scrawny body shivers with “ravenous gratitude.”Billy hands a syrupy spoon through a window to Edgar Derby who is working outside. -

The Dresden Bombing
The American prisoners and four guards waited out the bombing in the meat locker. They came out to find Dresden replaced by one big smoking pile of burned demolished ruins. The four guards huddled together with silent mouths open in awe and terror. -
The End Of The War
Billy is back in Dresde two days after the war digging for bodies. After spending two nights in the stable the prisoners are put to work excavating bodies in Dresden. The bodies rot faster than they can be removed. The bodies are cremated where they lie in trenches. The soldiers use flamethrowers to burn the bodies. -
The Tralfamadorians Time Jump Chap 4
Billy went out to the backyard to meet the saucer that will arrive. A sound like a harmonious owl warns the arrival of the spacecraft, which is 100 feet in diameter. Once on the ship Billy is asked if he has any questions. He asked “Why me? A question that his Tralfamadorians think is very typical of earthlings to ask. They tell him that there is no why since the moment simply is and since all of them are trapped in the moment like bugs in amber. -
The Zoo
Billy time travels to his geo dome in the zoo on Tralfamadore. The Tralfamadorians tell Billy that there are actually seven sexes among human all of which are necessary for reproduction. Five of these sexes are active only in the fourth dimension, Billy cannot perceive them. Billy praises the peacefulness of Tralfamadore the aliens tell him that Tralfamadorians are at war and peace sometimes. They state that war cannot be prevented on Tralfamadore any more than it can on Earth. -
The Plane
Billy gets into a plane crash on his way to an optometry conference in Montreal with himself being the only survivor. He has a skull fracture. His wife dies of carbon monoxide poisoning. Then runs from the hospital after his recovery. -
The City
Billy goes to Times Square and he sees four Kilgore Trout books in the window of an adult bookstore and goes in to read them. One of the books is about an earthling man and woman who are kidnapped by aliens and taken to a zoo on a faraway planet. In the shop Billy sees the headline of a porno magazine "What really became of Montana Wildhack?" Which tells the story of Montana being abducted by aliens and being placed in a zoo. -
The Book
KV's unsuccessful attempts to write about Dresden in the 23 years since he was in the war.He is proud of the outline of the story that he draws in crayon on the back of a roll of wallpaper.The outline represents each character in a different color of crayon with a line for each progressing through the story’s chronology.Eventually the lines enter a zone of orange lines that represent the firebombing.And those who survive the attack and finally stop at the point when the POW's are returned home. -
The Future Time Jump
China has dropped a hydrogen bomb on Chicago. The United States has been divided into twenty nations to prevent it from dominating the world. Moments after he predicts his own death and closes his speech with the words “Farewell, hello, farewell, hello,” Billy is killed by an assassins high-powered laser gun. Sent by Lazzaro after he promised to have Billy killed back in the prison camp because of Weary's death
